Ah Winter. You aren't even here yet. Go away already.

Okay, it's official. It's impossible to find a size #0 grommet die in Launceston.

I have (with the help of a friend, seeing as my paypal account is new and not fully linked with stuff yet) purchased this die from the US. I'm so excited! Only five hours after the payment went through, I got an email saying they'd shipped it. That's crazy fast. xD I'm hoping it gets here by Friday. How fast is international postage, anyway?

Once I complete this cincher, I'll know exactly where I've gone wrong (if I have, anyway) and know where best to alter the pattern.

I've also found some old fabrics during a cleanup. I've found red vinyl, black and white chequered drill, and turquoise gingham among others! Of course the latter two will need a lot of reinforcing were I to make a corset from them, but I think it would have a marvellous aesthetic.

Maybe while I wait for this grommet I'll make a new handbag.

Hmmph.

No dice at the marine shop. Tuesday guy wasn't even there!

I have been put on to yet another lead, a place not too far from here, actually. ;O I'll head there on Friday when I have cash again (heehee I have shiny new stuff).

Did the redraft of the corset pattern. Total cheat in photoshop. :P I'll upload that when I dig out my stick. The purple is the new stuff, and the warped lines underneath are remnants of the old pattern.
I've kept the original corset length, I've just moved the waistline so the corset sits lower under the boobs and longer along the tummy and hips. Right is centre front, and left is centre back.

Back to talking about dies for a moment: I'm seriously considering using my tiny die on the big grommets. D: I really want to wear this corset and I really don't want to wait much longer. I'll give it til Friday after my visit to the sailmaker place.

Nothing too interesting.

Uni was quick today, I mainly went down for my job rather than any academia.
Bought some more supplies for the drawing studio and ordered in like, $700 worth of paper BAHAHAHA. I shouldn't be given free reign over anything. Nope.

What else? I will redraft my corset pattern maybe tomorrow, raising the waistline, but keeping the length. Shouldn't be too hard, thank goodness.

Most importantly, I may have a lead on a locally sourced grommet/eyelet die.
I have to go to a store on a Tuesday and meet a man. This man may or may not be able to help.

I feel like such a spy. :O

So in conclusion to this short entry, Tuesday next week is D-day?

PS: My cold is still disgusting. I could flood the house with my snot. :O

Small and evil pieces of metal.

Oh god my nose is running like a tap. I have a killer cold at the moment, so I'm whiny and gross IRL.

Aaaanyway, went out today to meet with my supervisor at uni, and had a good meeting with him (an hour late! My bad!) - and he put me onto a place that might be able to stock me with grommets and dies locally. After my meeting I went off there and was like WOAH GROMMET HEAVEN. Bought just 100 of what I need (at 7c each!) and and and they had no dies to fit what they stock. How silly is that? They put me onto another place, which in turn had nothing so they put me onto yet another place, which again had nothing. Then went off to a big hardware store and looked there, again nothing.

I'm finally home again, wrapped up in a snuggly dressing gown and daggy trackies, experimenting with a die I already have. it's far too small, and flattens the grommets I bought, but it isn't leaving burrs or sharp bits, or anything like that. So if I really can't find the die I need, I can resort to this. The result isn't the best looking thing, though, so it really isn't my first choice.

More news on the corset front

Ordered some grommets from the mainland, they should arrive at my door by Friday. Now to go shopping for a die. xD A friend found me a website online that has what I need (and isn't forty dollars postage lmao), but I'm gonna have a snoop around local hardware stores and hope to spot one here. If not, uni may have one, and barring both those possibilities, I will buy online.

Debit cards are massive win. o3o

Ordered my grommets frommmm here, which is decently priced AND australian.

I am writing in this. Corsets! Yaay

I spent yesterday and the day before making a corset!

I've got it all complete bar the eyelets/grommets for lacing. The ones I have split and burr when attached, which will scratch the skin and fray the lacing. D:
Take a looklook:
Here are two WIPs from day one, detailing the way I boned and reinforced the lining. :D
This is it, as complete as I can get it until I get those eyelets! It'll fit so snug and lovely when it's finished. The waist is about 3.5in smaller than my natural waist, so it should hold a lovely shapy when laced on properly. It is, however, a little bit too long above the waist, so I may have to shorten it there, or have better posture while I wear it. xD
The boning is plastic Birch crap, so I don't know what resilience the corset will have, but I'm hoping it will hold its shape well enough, and not buckle at the lacing. I've reeeeeally reinforced that with a lot of the boning, so here's to hoping!
