Albeit lacking the correctly coloured lacing for the front. It took the whole four metres for the back lacing! Would you believe it!
At least it looks pretty cool.
I'm definitely investing in lengths of flat steel boning for my next one (and maybe even for this one later, should the lengths fit my current boning channels). You can see how it's warping at the lacing, which is just a baaad thing. :(
It also sits a little high, but I believe that is due to the seam allowance I added to the top and bottom of the pieces in my silliness. It sits well under clothing, and gives dresses a lovely 1950s feel when belted over the top. The shape is makes really is lovely.
So yes, I don't think I'll use the pattern redraft from a previous entry here, I'll remake this one with no seam allowance top and bottom, as well and a slightly smaller waist.
I'm going to be buying my boning from Aussie Corset Supplies when I next get paid, and will start on it as soon as they arrive in the post.
This one is slightly uncomfortable to wear due to the give in the lacing bones, but I will grin and bear it for art.
Now to plan things to leave in the lining to mark my skin! I'm thinking of making slightly squishy castings of halved toy soldiers and dinosaurs, because I'd love the element of playfulness being a hidden theme.
That's it for now, I hope you all enjoyed the outcome as much as I do!
